Game Procedures

·         This is a rain or shine event! In the event of extreme weather, a judgment call will be made by the organizing committee.

·         All games are 30 minutes in length consisting of a 5 minute warm up, two 15-minute halves with a 3-minute break in between.

·         Teams are comprised of a maximum of 8 players (3 on 3, with goalie). The spare player(s) may be utilized as a sub each game. Player changes allowed on the fly.

·         Games are played on an ground surface measuring approximately 70’ x 38’

·         It is recommended that teams bring two color shirts/jerseys (Dark and Light).

·         Face-offs will be used to start games and second halves. All other instances (goals scored / penalties) will see the appropriate team taking “half”. Both teams must move quickly so that the game is not delayed. The defending team returns to their side of center before the attacking team advances. Once the ball or the attacking team crosses center, the defending team may pressure or engage in play.

·         Round robin games that end in a tie will result in each team being awarded one point.

·         Playoff games that end in a tie will then proceed to a 5 minute sudden victory overtime. If the game remains tied after that, it will proceed to a 3 player shootout.

Playing Rules

·         HAVE FUN!!

·         Penalties will be called for rule infractions

·         Minor penalties will result in a goal being awarded to the opposing, non-penalized team as well as ball possession for the purpose of taking half.

·         Major penalties or any action that jeopardizes the safety of players, volunteers or spectators will result in that player’s ejection from the tournament with no substitution allowed for that player’s team. In extreme instances or actions involving more than one player from a team, the entire team can be ejected from the tournament. That team or any of the individual players will never be granted entry into the tournament again.

·         General hockey infractions such as tripping, hooking, slashing, elbowing etc are considered infractions at this event as well (Minor penalty)

·         Any abuse of officials (monitors) will be considered a major penalty. This includes yelling / swearing and excessive arguing about calls.

·         No body checking

·         HAVE FUN!!

·         No contacting the ball with your stick above the waist (Minor penalty)

·         All minor penalties can be upgraded to major infractions

·         No slapshots allowed. Slapshots are defined as any shot that involves a wind up that begins above the shooter’s waist. This infraction will result in possession being given to the opposing team.

·         There will be no off-side or icing calls

·         Goals must be scored from the attacking side of center. The maximum +/- awarded for any game, regardless of score will be a +10 or -10. (May become relevant in tie breaking purposes for play-offs)

·         HAVE FUN!!

·         Balls that leave the playing area result in possession being awarded to the opposing team who in-bounds the ball at a point near to the location that the original ball left the surface. The defending team must give them two stick lengths to in-bound the ball. (The assigned official will have extra balls and will spot a ball at that location. Ball chasers are provided to retrieve errant balls)

·         When the ball is covered by the goaltender, the defending team gets possession of the ball behind the net. The other team must give the team with the ball 3 meters of space to make a play. The team with possession is allowed 5 seconds to put the ball in play.

·         The organizers reserve the right to prohibit any player from participating in a game should they be deemed a safety risk to themselves or anyone else.

·         The organizers reserve the right to add or delete rules as identified in this document. If changes are made, teams will be informed prior to any games being played.

·         Oh yeah… HAVE FUN!!!

Tie Breaker Procedure:

·         The Head-to-Head record between the tied teams.  All tied teams must have played each other for this rule to be used.  Every time a team is eliminated from the tie breaker, this rule will be the next determination factor.

·         Wins - the team with the most wins

·         Goals For and Against Percentage - GF divided by GA.  The highest percentage wins the tie breaker.

·         Goals For.  The most goals for wins the tie breaker

·         Coin Toss.
